When Carcass, the "Slab Four" of Liverpool, England, disbanded in 1995, their sick, grinding, medically-graphic death metal did not die with them. Their Earache and Sony/Columbia albums influenced a generation, sometimes to an obsessive extreme. This week Bloody Roots pulls apart the cadaver in search of the band's death grip on Carcass worship bands like General Surgery, Exhumed, Impaled, Necrony, and the County Medical Examiners. As a reunited Carcass unleashes its venom on the world, beginning its US tour in early September, will the clones be out of a job?
